Software AG targets data centres with bought IoT analytics player – Data Economy
Platform and middleware solution firm Software AG has acquired time-based IoT analytics firm TrendMiner for an undisclosed sum, which is now ready to move into the data centre, IT shops and other vertical markets for its solution as a result.
The announcement of the acquisition was made this afternoon at CeBIT, Hannover, and comes after the German software giant bought IoT platform firm Cumulocity last year. TrendMiner has offices in Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and in Houston, Texas (where it has already carved a niche for itself in the oil and gas industry).
The company was a spin-off from Leuven University in Belgium and pitches its software at “power users” in processing industries, and any markets that can’t readily rely on hard-to-find and expensive data scientists to find reported faults in organisations’ systems.
Bert Baeck, CEO and co-founder of the acquired firm, said: “While we already have a niche in traditional processing industries like chemicals and petroleum, now that we have the opportunity to scale up with Software AG with a large sales force, our solution can be aimed at other sectors including car makers, data centres, IT departments and other manufacturers – anywhere that needs timely analytics from IoT sensors.
