Sensors Midwest 2018: Remote Sensor Monitoring Reduces IoT Costs | Sensors Magazine
As the IoT expands and billions to trillions of sensors are deployed globally, it’s one thing to receive data from all of them and another to monitor their condition and functionality. Monitoring sensor power sources, levels, and quality is yet another factor. One thing they all have in common is the associated costs related to monitoring and collecting data.
Although you cannot totally eliminate the cost of monitoring in the field, even if you did, there would still be taxes to be paid. You can however minimize those costs. Obviously, with the level of sensors in the field, you wouldn’t, better yet, you can’t go out and check on them individually and in person. Having a good remote monitoring strategy will save both money and time. It will also improve your quality of life, even extend it a few years.
