Berlin, Germany – September 1, 2023 – Samsung Vision for Home Living
At IFA 2023, Europe’s largest consumer trade show, Samsung Electronics took center stage to share its compelling vision for the future of home living. Driven by cutting-edge devices and leading Bespoke products, Samsung aims to redefine how we interact with our homes while embracing sustainability and innovation.
Innovation Leadership
Benjamin Braun, Chief Marketing Officer at Samsung Europe, opened the conference by celebrating the company’s rich history of pioneering innovations that have transformed the tech landscape. Reiterating their commitment to fearless innovation, he stated, “We are proud to be first, and we will continue to innovate, however strange it seems to begin with.”
Braun emphasized Samsung’s dedication to actively listening to consumers, resulting in products that not only meet their needs but also enhance their lives. Samsung has shifted its focus towards creating devices and appliances that empower users globally while contributing to a sustainable future.
Sustainability at the Core
Amid growing concerns about climate change, Samsung highlighted its unwavering commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting climate-positive solutions. In September 2022, Samsung announced ambitious targets to achieve net-zero carbon emissions for its Device eXperience (DX) Division by 2030 and extend this commitment company-wide by 2050. The company is making significant strides in transitioning to renewable energy sources, with 31% of its operations currently running on clean energy, up from 20% in 2021.
Aimee Holloran, Business Development Manager at Samsung Climate Solutions U.K., emphasized the integration of environmental sustainability into Samsung’s products. This empowers users worldwide to live more sustainably through the use of Samsung devices and appliances.
Revolutionizing Environmental Solutions
To address pressing environmental issues, Samsung has partnered with industry leaders like Ocean Wise and Patagonia. In September 2022, they introduced the Less Microfiber™ Cycle for Bespoke washing machines, a groundbreaking solution to reduce microplastic emissions from laundry.
Expanding on this achievement, Samsung, in collaboration with Ocean Wise, introduced the Less Microfiber™ Filter for Samsung washers in June 2023. This innovation has the potential to reduce up to 98% of microplastic emissions from laundry cycles, demonstrating the significant impact of industry leaders working together.
A Sustainable Samsung Vision for Home Living
Samsung’s holistic approach to sustainable product development includes using recycled materials for internal and external components in its Galaxy devices and adopting 100% recycled paper for product packaging. Additionally, the company is taking significant strides in the clean energy sector, particularly in Europe, to combat global energy shortages and promote the transition to clean energy sources.
Samsung’s SmartThings home ecosystem harnesses the power of AI to help over 280 million registered users save energy through its AI Energy Mode, optimizing appliance energy usage and reducing energy costs.
Enhancing Everyday Life
Apart from its sustainability efforts, Samsung unveiled a range of products designed to enrich consumers’ lives. This includes Samsung Food, an AI-based application providing access to thousands of recipes, with plans to integrate it with Samsung Health by the end of the year.
Samsung is also revolutionizing home entertainment with products like the new 98-inch Neo QLED 8K TV, offering unparalleled image quality in sleek designs. Collaborations, such as The Frame-Disney100 Edition in partnership with Disney, cater to diverse consumer preferences.
Gaming enthusiasts can immerse themselves in unparalleled experiences with Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor and The Freestyle 2nd Gen portable projector. These devices promise to take gaming to the next level.
Inclusive Accessibility
Samsung reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity by ensuring its devices and products cater to diverse user needs. Features like TalkBack for Home Appliances and Services, which reads home appliance content on SmartThings, and Relumino Mode, which optimizes content on Samsung TVs for those with visual impairments, showcase Samsung’s dedication to inclusivity.
Looking Ahead
In partnership with electric vehicle charger manufacturer ABB and residential inverter brand SMA, Samsung is set to revolutionize home construction, making homes safer, smarter, and more sustainable.
As the company explores new technologies and ventures, such as 6G deployment and AI expansion, it remains committed to improving users’ lives by listening to their needs. Samsung envisions a future where technology plays a pivotal role in healthcare, entertainment, and remote work, all driven by 6G, AI, XR, augmented reality, mixed reality, and artificial intelligence.
Samsung Vision for Home Living promises a sustainable, connected, and innovative world where consumers’ needs are at the forefront of technological advancements.
