Deutsche Telekom finds IoT use in compressed air

Deutsche Telekom’s enterprise arm has won a deal to supply IoT services to a Germany-based compressed air systems manufacturer.

The operator has added SIM cards and sensors to 400 technical service cases that Kaeser Kompressoren technicians use for their work.

Kaeser technicians hook up the cases, which contain measuring equipment, to compressed air systems to perform an on-site analysis over a period of at least 10 days.

Oliver Pschirrer, Head of Technical Service at Kaeser Kompressoren, said the cases could be difficult to pinpoint or go missing altogether due to the length of time they are in the field.

“The losses were very costly for us and the cases difficult to replace,” he added.

The cases now communicate their location to T-Systems’ IoT platform at regular intervals. Read more…
