Amazon, Dish Wireless Deal Would Target Internet Of Things

Amid speculation e-commerce giant Amazon.com (AMZN) and Dish Network (DISH) could partner in 5G wireless services, a Citigroup report says a strategic deal could focus on the Internet of Things.

“The idea of Amazon partnering with Dish may seem unusual, but their aspirations may be intersecting around connected devices and the Internet of Things,” the report said.

IoT encompasses web-connected cars, advanced robotics, telemedicine, automated factories, smart cities and the development of massive sensor networks in such fields as agriculture. Verizon Communications (VZ) and AT&T (T) are also targeting the IoT as a growth market. Read more…
