Microsoft Blends IoT And Edge Computing With AI To Change The Game Of Cricket
The technology behind the power bat is fascinating. Microsoft has connected the dots well to exploit the power of emerging technologies. The tiny sensors that are stuck to the bat capture just enough parameters like the impact, swing speed, angle, thrust and distance. These data points are instantly sent to Azure Sphere, an IoT edge device that is deployed behind the stumps. The data from the bat is captured by Azure Sphere which sends it to Azure IoT Hub that acts as the cloud gateway forwarding the data to a machine learning model for inference. The output from the ML model is stored in the cloud which is accessed by mobile, web, and desktop applications.
