Structural concerns close downtown Wilmington building, block – News – Wilmington Star News – Wilmington, NC
WILMINGTON – A downtown block of Princess Street has been shut down, effective immediately, as crews perform emergency structural repairs on a building.
Princess Street between Second and Third streets is now closed as work gets underway to address structural concerns at 201 Princess St., a building on the western corner of the block. The building is currently occupied by Memory Lane Comics on the bottom floor and apartments on the upper floors.
City spokeswoman Malissa Talbert said the occupants of the building have been evacuated as crews work to stabilize the building. The road closure is expected to last two weeks.
Multiple utility trucks and vans sat along the closed portion of Princess Thursday morning, while a cherry picker lift sat inside the cordoned off work site.
